Awe, yeah, boiiieeeee.....
This is a tribute to Momo who's moving in July. As before, this is Daniel's machine, please respect it. Daniel and I plan to clean out and replace any sensors before the event. If there is an issue with the pads during the event, please let one of us know immediately in a civil manner, and we'll look into it. If there was indeed a problem with the pad that caused you to lose (ie all non-greats were perfects, you wouldn't have lost), then I will allow a rematch of the song. The primary difference from this event and the last event is a change in dance point scoring that's more in line with Beatmania. On to the details...
What: DDR Tournament on a Extreme arcade machine. There will be two divisions of technical competition: Advanced and Expert. You pick what bracket you wish to compete in, while I reserve the right to bump you up to Expert if I feel that's where you belong, aka don't sandbag. There will be a Qualifying round which will be used strictly to seed the brackets.
Where:
My place. Due to limited parking in the neighborhood, I ask that you park at the park at the end of Greengrass Way on Apache Plume Dr. For those that have been to my frisbee shindigs, that's the same park. Please don't park at the house.
When: Saturday May 24. Open play will start at 11am. Qualifiers will start at noon. The Advanced bracket will start no earlier than 1pm. The Expert bracket will start no earlier than 3:30pm. They may start later, but if you plan to compete, please be on site at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the bracket. Ideally, be there at noon.
Division Entry Rules: You can sign up for ONE division of technical competition. ie, You can't sign up for Advanced and Expert Division. Here are the guidelines to determine with division you should be in:
Expert: If you SDG/AAA most everything, this is where you belong.
Advanced: If you can pass all the Heavies mostly As and the occasional AA, this is where you belong.
There will be a separate qualifier for each division for seeding purposes. The qualifier for each will be comparable to the difficulty of the division. eg Advanced might be Luvin' You Heavy, and Expert might be So Deep Heavy.
Schedule:
11:00am Open Registration/Free Play
12:00pm Qualifying Rounds
1:00pm Advanced Division
3:30pm Expert Division
This is a flexible schedule, to a point. Events may start later than posted here, but never earlier. I will accept registrations for a division up to the slated start time for that event. If you want to compete in Expert, you don't have to be there at noon to qualify, although I strongly encourage it. You can show up anytime before 3:30; however, it would certainly make things run smoother if you show up at noon. ;)
Prize List:
Tiered cash prizes. I plan to split the cash pool 60/40 between Expert and Advanced, and then 60/30/10 for 1st/2nd/3rd for that bracket. As the level competition gets higher, so do the stakes. There might be additional non-cash prizes.
All Divisions
- Entry Fee: $7
1) Double Elimination Bracket.
2) A coin toss will be done before each round. The winner will decide what side of the pad he or she wishes to compete on.
3) A "round" will consist of playing the Random Caprice Non-Stop Course.
4) After completing 2 songs of the course, both competitors will jump off the pad.
5) If both competitors fail the course before the end of the 2nd song, they will be graded on their performance up to that point.
6) For the semi-final and final rounds, all four songs in the course will be played instead of just 2.
7) Mods will be allowed. No Solo allowed unless both competitors consent. No Little, Right, Left, Mirror, Freeze Off, or Shuffle. Choose your speed mods wisely. Choosing a speed mod that requires you to look at your opponent's screen for part of the course will be... frowned upon. (I have a hydraulic jack handle, and I'm not afraid to use it. >D)
8) The following Dance Point Formula will be used. Whoever has the most Dance Points wins the round and advances.
- Marvelous = +3
- Perfect = +2
- Great = +1
- Good = 0
- Boo = 0
- Miss = 0
- OK = +1
9) In the case of a tie in Dance Points, the winner will be determined by most Marvelous, followed by most Perfect, followed by most Great, followed by max combo if previous is tied, followed by score if still tied.
Expert Division
1) Random Caprice will be played on Difficult.
2) There will be no song restrictions. Anything goes.
Heavy Division
1) Random Caprice will be played on Difficult.
2) Any set that requires a 10 footer with the name "Max" in it to be played will result in a machine reset. Note: Bag, Sakura, and Paranoia Survivor are allowable.
My house will be open to entertainment to pass the time. I have a Cube/Wii with Smash, PS2 with Beatmania/Pop'n/Karaoke. If you want to bring your games, you're free to do so, but I will not be responsible for damage or theft. This is a BYOFD event, ie Bring Your Own Food and Drinks. My fridge and pantry is not open to the public. There is plenty of fast food in the area as well as a grocery store. :)
