How did I manage to miss two weeks in a row? Must be my epic phail activating D:
Title: Harmony
Fandom: Tales of Symphonia
Characters: Tabatha, Martel
Rating: G
Prompt: Free Week
Other: Lots of spoilers of the endgame variety.
Compelled by the sound of loneliness, she walks blindly towards the flower hanging in the sky. It’s a rather nice flower- periwinkle petals arranged ever so carefully around a phosphorescent centre- but she can’t think about that. Not that she ever could, but now her ability to know beauty is lessened even more in that she cannot analyze the effect of visual stimulation on a living brain. Her mind has been broken.
“Mithos saved me,” she mumbles as she walks. Her feet are bare. “Mithos. Saved me.”
The rubble of salvation bites deep into her feet as she stumbles on towards her goal. She can hear Altessa yelling for something far in the distance. She can’t remember her name very well, and uses his cries as a link to what she once was.
“Mithos,” she says, “Saved me.”
It’s not much, but she forces it out with enough grim determination to press forward. It’s coming closer now, rocketing towards her mangled body, reaching out for her with open arms and a softly singing voice.
“Mithos,” it says, “Saved us.”
She reaches up with her corroded arms towards the light, and their hands meet.
Suddenly there’s a blinding flash of green light and her body is repaired. Not just repaired, but she can no longer feel the soft humming of her core making routine check-ups. She pinches the fold of skin in her elbow and wonders if skin is supposed to be warm and supple.
When she looks up, it’s with a jolt. Standing before her- and beside her and behind her and all around her- is an incredibly beautiful woman who looks oddly like her mother, though she has had no mother other than the cold hands of angels in heaven. The memory is so vivid it feels like a waking dream.
Is it you? The woman asks, tilting her head.
I am the host, Tabatha says, and then the woman is inside her. There is the sensation of racing through a tunnel of light and Tabatha is no more.
