Chapter 2: The Dark Pact (Dante and Mia)

Dante and Mia

Dante made his way through the shadows of the allyway behind the town hall. The city was a mess, but what did Dante truly care. His only concern now was to locate his jubilant companion.

Dante scowled as he slipped through the debris that once was a tavern. He rather disliked Moersho and his successful Military career, but he entirely loathed Mia Sage. The bouncy young Draconis was irritating; her constant cheerfulness, her cute demeanor, and her "mission" to help others just drove Dante to madness.

He rounded the corner, but stopped, quickly ducking back into the building's skeleton. A war-group of Orcs was about to pass through the broken barricade at the opposit end of the disheveled street. Moersho's troops would soon enough deal with them; they were too much for Dante to face alone. The five troops splintered off, to search the destroyed buildings nearby for any traces of survivors.

Dante quickly rolled under a fallen pillar and ducked behind a dusty brick wall. The orcs continued, unaware.

Where was it this blasted Mia lived?!

Dante looked at the rows of damaged structures. He was now in East Town, the residential quaters of Basten. Mia stayed with several sisters from the local convent; She would probably be healing any wounded at the Pastoral Residence on the edge of town, if it was still there. Dante chuckled malicously, as the sky suddenly darkened.

Suddenly, a shadowy form loomed to the Heretic's left. He turned, ready to turn the attacker to cinders.

But the attack never came.

Dante fell to his knees, in homage.

"My devoted Servant,The time of Prophecy is nigh," The Demonic viasge of Abbadon breathed, his voice echoing with torment and malevolence. Dante's mouth twisted into a wicked smile.

"Arise, my insidious enforcer, and heed my words." The beast rose to face his master. Abbadon's eyes glowed with intensity. "The balance of power in this world has begun to shift; The Druidic spirits that sanctify this plane are beginning to sink into corruption."

Dante's evil grin grew wider.

"There is a task you must complete to assure our transition intot his world shall not be exploited by the Ferianites; A group of these very orcs carry with them one of the Summoning Glyph-shards of Asterine. Remove it from them and I shall reward your unyielding faith with rewards of great and terrible power."

Abbadon's shadow fades from view; Dante peers over the wall, observing his targets.

MEANWHILE

The roof of the convent was going to cave in at any moment.

"The Father's still trapped inside!" Priestess Tara cried. The Orc's Ballista cannon had dealt a massive blow to the Church; The beautiful carving of Lukaai had been blasted through the rose window, kncoking out the main support beam. The rest of the chuch was engulfed in dark green flames, courtesy of the Orcs' weapons.

Father Raiz, paladin of Basten church, had fended the Orcs off of the church during the initial attack. But when the Ballista Cannon began its bombardment, a small team of Orcs had penetrated the church and uplifted The Rune-Shard of Asterine. Raiz still remained inside, hopefully still breathing and fighting off the remnants of the group. He would never cease protecting the other sacred relics of the church while alive.

Tara limped towards Priestess Mia, a heavy wound born on her leg. "Please...M-mia . Get H-Him out!" The wounded priestess fainted.

Side-Quest: Finding Faith!
XP: 130
Bonuses: 1 Feat Point,

Objectives: Father Raiz is trapped in one of the three underground Relic Chambers. Judging by the rumbling of the roof, and the state of the church's interior, there is only enough time to explore two.

BONUS OBJECTIVES: Rescue 2 Relics from the underground Chambers!

Mia Sage bolted into the church without a moment's hesitation. The inside of the once beautiful church was ravaged. Debris and fire covered nearly everything. The sounds of shouting and battle could be heard above the fire and low-rumbles of the weakening roof. Father Raiz was still alive; He was trapped by the Orcs in one of the three underground Relic Chambers.

There was still time to get him out alive.
