That is completely unprofessional to the nth degree. I do have an opinion though. Rather than sending him a letter telling him what a jerk you think he is, though you are certainly entitled to that, how about calling him and asking the direction question and observation, "I'm confused. Why did you change your mind?" Actually for the head of a firm to do this does not make a tremendous amount of sense and you deserve more of an explanation than this BS, which doesn't explain anything at all. Really. I would call him at least twice before I wrote the letter.

But yes, you are right. No way I'd want to work for that guy. He sure needs a few lessons in business etiquette as well for that is just...well I dunno. Having worked for a conservative, corporation for around four years, that's really close to unbelievable.
