Going home tonight. Dennis and I are going to this cute-looking German place called "East Side" for dinner tomorrow night. Much revelry at the Milestone proceeds with Noni and Ashleigh. But I think I'm doing that tonight, too. Yay booze ( Read more... )

. . . wtf? ex_de_la_mer478 February 13 2004, 11:35:54 UTC
geez. if that was me i would sue the guy... the school... my god. The scarey thing with rape is that unless there is a confession or other types of definite proof... dna analysis is hard to come by.

Millions of rapists are out ... roaming our streets because of rape kit DNA analysis backlog. It's disgusting. Crimes can't be proven without sufficient evidence. Schools, therefore, don't have to do anything/create controversy?

I'm not familiar at all with what's going on with that accused rapist at the school... but I assume the school is in no position to do anything? And that they are trying to keep it all very hush hush.

::le sigh::

They want to keep it all hush-hush because they don't want the school's reputation ruined.

HOWEVER... they're sacrificing the safety of all women on the campus by letting him remain here. Just as they decided I didn't need to know that the person they put in my room to live with me last year was an accused cleptomaniac. Forget that me and possessions were in danger...

It's the same thing. We,a t least, have a right to know. Because you know, as much as I love Mville and it faculty and whatnot, I wouldn't hesitate to sue the school for witholding information if I was to get raped on campus by a student of Manhattanville.

Oh, but we can't kick a rapist out of school, because if we did, then it would be besmirching the precious Mville reputation. So he'll just lose housing becuase he was accused.....not admitting anything, but that must be punishment enough.......GRRRR!!!! (OK, rant over)

I know someone who is friends with the "rapist." According to him (the friend I know):

That "rapist" is still under investigation. Right now it's a he said/ she said situation. He maintains that they had consentual sex, and apparently has evidence that she opened the condom for him (finger prints on the wrapper.)

Now, I don't know if this is true or not. It may have been rape, it may have been consentual. But I'm not going to jump to conclusions or fear for the safety of my friends until there is more evidence proving his guilt.
