how civ ruined christmas

so we bought heather a brand new awesome sauce laptop for the sole purpose of letting her play civ 5, and i bought her the game and all DLC for christmas. She played it for an hour the day we got it to make sure it worked, and then turned it off. the next day, they applied a patch and a hotfix

Can you somehow uninstall the game and reinstall it without applying any patches?

luckily, i'm really good at figuring out how to fix this, so i made it work again =)
