Yesterday was a long day - I'd snagged a gig at the Friends of the Earth Annual Conference at Nottingham, performing at their Friday Green Fair. One lift and three trains later (I was offered a route involving FIVE changes... on a journey one can drive in under three hours. And this is our public transport system? That sounds brilliant. Wish I'd been on that train!

Reminds me of the train I got from Paris once that had a five-piece reggae band doing Bob Marley covers in Frenglish. That was a fun trip :)

I'm delighted to learn since posting this that it's not an absolutely unheard-of phenomenon for impromptu concerts to occur on trains. What an unreported, random, uncollectable and entirely ephemeral subset of perfomances, though!

We can add the Flash Girls' A Girl Needs a Knife and have the whole drawer.

There's plenty of songs about pint glasses and little brown jugs already, and nursery rhymes give us plates and platters. I suppose we need one about placemats now. Or possibly sporks.
