I sorta wrote last week after seeing Kanju in Kobe. Not much, but ah well. Ota's really tortured in my Kanju fics and I feel bad for him... and I guess Mukai does too.
Takes place at some point after the Kobe shows.
(Kusumoto, Matori, Fuuga, Ryoya, Mukai, and poor Ota)
WARNING: I wrote last week, before knowing about Daichi.
-----------------------
It's the first day of rehearsals for the Osaka shows and everyone is chatting happily, reunited after a long break. Not everyone took part in the tour, so Kusumoto's excited for the change... especially since the new changes include Jr.BOYS in the set list.
A wide smile breaks out across his face when he sees Matori walk in with Fuuga and Ryoya. He opens his mouth to greet them, but Ryoya beats him to it by saying, "Your hair! It's gone!"
Not entirely accurate, but it makes Kusumoto pause, realizing that he hadn't told Matori he'd cut off most of the curls. "What do you think?"
He waits nervously as Matori circles around him. It's no secret that Matori had liked the curls... A LOT.
"Aw... Now what is he supposed to hold on to when you guys--" Ota suddenly appears and effectively prevents Fuuga from finishing that sentence. Kusumoto squeezes his eyes shut in embarrassment, even as Ota hauls Fuuga off, warning Matori over his shoulder to be good.
"Open your eyes?"
He complies and isn't surprised to find Matori leaning in close. He asks again what he thinks about his new haircut, but relaxes because he can already see the answer in Matori's eyes.
"You look older, " Matori murmurs, reaching out to run his fingers through the short waves and Kusumoto leans into the touch, pleased. "It's kinda hot."
And just as Matori leans in for a kiss, Ota is back, staring Matori down, demanding to know what he just said. Kusumoto laughs when Matori sends him a look that clearly says that they'll be continuing this later, which causes Ota to start at him all over again.
Pouncing onto Ota's back, Kusumoto offers his cutest kouhai smile. "You can come too."
"Oh my god. Why do I even bother?!"
Matori falls to the ground laughing and Kusumoto squeezes Ota in apology before letting him escape from the whole situation.
"Oi! Cut Ota some slack, would you?" Mukai says, nudging at Matori with his foot. "You guys have already gotten in trouble for this kind of stuff."
Kusumoto ducks his head sheepishly. It's been a while since they've seen each other, so maybe they got carried away. It happens often enough that Mukai just shakes his head at them with an, "Oh, Matori."
"Why is it always, 'Oh, Matori?" Matori hisses once Mukai's back is turned.
Kusumoto smiles. "I have no idea."
"Someday, someone's going to see past that innocent smile of yours," he says giving him a knowing look. But then Matori laughs, adding, "And then they'll blame me for corrupting you."
"Well, you kinda did," Kusumoto points out. He leans in, quickly kissing him on the cheek. "So you like the hair?"
"I definitely like the hair." Matori gives him a meaningful look. "If it's okay, maybe later we could--"
"MATORI! Hurry up and get ready! We're gonna start without you!"
Kusumoto squeezes his hand as Matori stands up. "Stay over tonight."
"Deal!"
