I'm having such a hard time. Today was one of the most difficult days of my life. Everything reminds me of you... The bracelet on my wrist is the one you gave me on our anniversary. Looking at the wallpaper of my cell pains me. It's the picture you took of yourself drinking bubble tea. I can't even listen to Miso Soup on my playlist with your thinking of how you'd sing the chorus whenever you see a bowl of miso soup.
I called Kusano first thing this morning, needing some kind of comfort. He’d known right away that something was wrong, but I just couldn’t tell him over the phone. When he showed up on my doorstep not too long after, I nearly collapsed in his arms. It hurt so much telling him what was wrong. Everything is just so wrong.
He went with me to work. He said that he had to go that way anyway but we both knew that he just wanted to make sure I got there okay. Looking back now, work was just on large blur. Others could tell that I was really off today, but no one asked. After all, it really isn’t any of their business, is it?
Kusano and Yamapi got together to cheer me up. Through everything, I feel lucky to have them looking out for me. All-you-can-eat Chinese hot pot and one melon crème soda later, I felt almost human again.
They did everything they could to distract me from thinking about us fighting. Yamapi did say something that I can hold on to tonight though. When I explained to them why you feel like you can’t trust me right now, he paused before saying, “He just needs to cool down. If Koyama breaks up with you over this, I would be in complete shock.”
To know that the others think so much about us being together brought a lot of comfort to me. Maybe there is reason to hope.
Shige paused and looked at what he’d written so far. Silent tears had started to fall.
I have reason to hope, right Kei? You do still love me right? Your love for me isn’t so weak that it can be forgotten overnight right? I still love you so much…
He paused again before putting his pen down. He couldn’t do this right now. Swiping blindly at the tears with the back of his hand, he put his journal away and crept into bed.
He pulled out his cell phone and looked at it sadly. Koyama’s voice rang in his head as he shut his eyes tightly.
”Don’t call me tomorrow. I don’t want you to call me or e-mail me. And don’t come to see me on Monday,” Koyama said just before hanging up.
.oO@Oo.
At some point he must’ve fallen asleep because he was suddenly woken up by his cell phone ringing.
Kei.
“Hello?” he mumbled sleepily.
“Hi baby,” Koyama murmured softly. “Did I wake you up?”
Shige rolled onto his side so he could get a better look at the clock. 12:40. “Ung. Sorta.”
“Oh.” He could hear him hesitate. “I just wanted to tell you that I love you.”
Shige smiled sleepily. He wasn’t thinking very clearly, but he could have sworn Keiichiro had just told him he loved him. Better make sure. “I love you Kei.”
“I love you,” Koyama replied, sounding somewhat relieved himself. “Sorry for calling so late. Go back to sleep.”
“Okay,” Shige said through a yawn. He mumbled another “I love you,” before crashing out again.
.oO@Oo.
It was the sunlight that woke him the next morning. He was rubbing the sleepiness from his eyes when he remembered the midnight phone call he’d received. Shige bolted up and searched frantically around his bed, looking for his phone. Please let it not have been a dream. Please let it not have been a dream. Please, please, PLEASE.
He finally located his cell in the tangle of blankets, heart beating fast. He looked closely at his Call History.

A large smile formed on his face as he stared at his phone screen. Falling back on his bed with an "Oomph," Shige stretched, goofy grin still plastered on his face.
Today was going to kick yesterday’s ass.
