The Order of the Phoenix

Well, now that I've been outed, I may as well admit that I've been assimilated by the smelly side. That is, I had a chance to pick up some Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab imps (imps' ears; or those perfume sample vials you sometimes see attached to cards) at a reduced price (thanks, shadesong!) and honestly, I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I am wearing B340 today too. aminuteafter3 July 31 2009, 19:25:52 UTC
My skin is very, very dry. When I first started trying out BPAL everything just seemed to evaporate on me too. It drove me crazy. Finally I just started slathering myself in unscented lotion, letting it soak in for a minute or two and then putting the perfume oil on. It's not a perfect method but it works well enough to keep me smelling good for about half the day. I also learned that with particular oils I would have to reapply more often than others. So now I have a bunch of imps that are just to put in my purse so I can reapply when I am out.

Ditto!!!

It's the rare scent that lasts all day long. I usually put some on in the AM, then reapply 2-3x/day. One good thing about that is you can change scents halfway through the day if you want!

Also, I recommend "prepping" your skin first. I use Vitamin E oil on my wrists and cleavage area about 20 min. Before applying perfume oil. It does help it last. Others have better luck running the imp wand through their hair (not me, my hair's too dry), and a number of us use scent lockers for the fragrances that fade quickly on us or that change in an icky way due to skin chemistry issues.

I'm glad you're "out". It's fun to talk BPAL with you!

I forgot to mail myself the latest version of my spreadsheet (it's at work, of course). Off the top of my head (and scanning the website), I know I really want to try Antique Lace, All in the Golden Afternoon, Brusque Violet, Calico Jack, Delirium, Schrodinger's Cat, Shattered, Embalming Fluid, Les Fleurs du Mal, Nocturne, Twilight, The Apothecary, Juliet, Ophelia, Rosalind, Amsterdam, Glasgow...how's that for a start? :D

I just made up my own spreadsheet - I didn't know there was one on the forums. I'll check it out but it's probably way more than I need just yet.

And yes, that info is all still current.
