Gaudy Night, Chapters 5-6

My apologies for the lateness of this, but both of my copies went missing for a while. By the way, Gaudy Night is currently not available pretty much any place I looked. Possibly this means the publisher is preparing a new edition (and, hopefully, an electronic one as well).

Brief synopsis:
Chapter 5 )

I got the sense that Miss Hillyard isn't happy, but that she is probably better off at Oxford than anywhere else.

Slightly off topic, but relating to the view that women have their place. Last week at my 7-yr-old daughter's Little League game, she advanced to second base, where the second baseman of the other team informed her that "girls can't play baseball." She pointed out that at least SHE had gotten a hit every time up at bat and promptly was batted in for a home run.

So, alas, the idea than women "have their place" is still alive and well in the 21st century. :-(
