Heh. Biking is in the air. S & B & C actually did the STP (Seattle to Portland) ride this year. I've just bought an Electra Townie 21 - I can sit on the saddle with my feet on the ground, because the pedals are about 6" in front of the saddle post, and the step-thru is low enough that I don't actually have to lay the bike down to mount it. I looked at several electrics - around here, there are only hills - and the new Schwinn of all bikes has the coolest looking one: the battery fits unnoticeably under the rear rack. Giant also has a good looking electric, with the battery under the rear panniers. Right now, the most tempting is a folding bike (you can take the Dahon on the bus!) and there area actually folding electrics too. Interested in what you choose!
I saw they were doing serious riding. I'm not that ambitious - I want electric hybrid to ease myself into it, and to get me outside more. I don't have illusions of being a good rider without assistance. Your pointers sound good to me... and another friend sent a few too! I'll do some more research and keep you posted.
