I believe the first redo looks best. The little soul in the last panel is what kind of makes the comic for me since he just looks SO happy. Otherwise, the placing of the bar between the two panels makes it seem like the skeleton figure isn't being actually seen by anyone.
I do like the slightly slower speech bubble, though.
Also, you should either round out the soul-goop a bit in the first panel so the leftover bit of the floor isn't there anymore or just put the whole floor back in all of the panels. I rather like the lack of floor, but the soul goop in the first kind of detracts from that take on it since it's so flat.
Also, just wanted to say that this was always one of my favorites. :)
I'm going to completely screw you over and suggest a combination. I liked the floor line in the first one (that is, 02/27/08, 07:06:00), it makes it feel like a deranged Garfield, which I sincerely mean as a compliment. 18:52:00 and 19:36:00 just seem empty without the floor. I do like the soul missing from panel 4, and Death's first speech bubble in 19:36:00 lower to connect panels three and four together better . I like the speech bubbles in panels 1, 2, and the first half of 3 in 18:52:00, and the rest in 19:36:00.
Also, please don't overthink every comic this much, they are all good.

Especally with the placement of "No,Come Here" and I even really enjoy the way death is speaking through the last panel.
