Great updates! Love were this is going. I knew Ennis would freak out at some point and run. I hope he doesn't take too long to find his way back to David.
It took me a few days but I reread all the previous chapters. It was a pleasure to read them in one go, and I got a better sense of the secondary characters.
I empathized with Ennis feeling off-kilter once the relationship with David had changed; it can feel weird when that happens with someone you're sharing a house with, when it's their house. You go overnight from being a lodger with your own, defined space to being... what?
I'm glad you didn't have Jack actually appear to Ennis, which is what I was expecting. I found the eagle feather to be a very moving sign of Jack's guiding presence.
If Ennis goes back to David, the first thing I want him to do is stop calling him "Doc"!
Looking forward to the next chapters and hope it won't be such a long wait.
Had to go back and re-read your chapter summary and then I felt compelled to re-read the story again from the beginning; it has taken me awhile but am glad that I did as it made these recent chapters more meaningful to me.
This is truly one of the best stories here, thought provoking with a quintessential Ennis who yet, is still so uniquely yours.
So many things to like about these new chapters but I particularly enjoyed Ennis's job interview, Ennis's reaction to the thought that others might know he and David are sleeping together and then the realization by association with David that eveyone knows that he too, is gay. You writing of this, of Ennis's fear and his reaction to it was masterfully handled. I also liked you having Ennis buy a red truck.
