I’d heard that Torchwood/Doctor Who was again going to film part of an episode at my place of work, because we’d been warned that there was going to be a squeeze on car parking. (Note to self - don’t take the car in tomorrow!)
Apparently, it's Torchwood that's being filmed and right outside our office, too. A couple of blokes were dressing the corridor outside, adding some plug ugly light fixtures and running cables up walls. I know our old (listed) building is already in dire need of refurbishment, but by the time they'd finished, the place looked far grungier than normal, almost a sort of immediate post war feel. That may not be an accurate impression because the "set" was not lit and a notice had also been put up emblazoned with the words: “Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963”. Someone left a ladder in front of it, so I couldn’t get close to see whether it was likely to be a bona fide sign that the crew had appropriated, or whether it was something conjured into existence by the production staff.
On the subject of stuff created by the production team. I absolutely loved the poster with the caption: Forgotten meters measure no radiation - sandwiching an appropriate cartoon - Health physics for your protection. Actually, there were lots of posters. A few others related to immunisation and there were duplicates of others, ostensibly from a female British ice skating champion with an anti-smoking message.
Hmm, common theme of public protection.
From some of the signs that were yet to be put up, it looks as though our little pixie dusted corridor is supposed to represent a government office of some kind.
I don't normally watch Torchwood, but this show I have to see. I understand they're still going to be there tomorrow -- must try to find digital camera and take some shots for posterity. I might even catch a glimpse of John Barrowman, since tons of other people in the building have already met him.
