Are there any reviewers that don't just copy the games publishers press releases for their 'reviews' these days anyway?

A few. And they mostly fall into the habits I was ranting about above. It annoys me because it is a harsh reminder of how commercial the whole gaming scene is now. Big release and lots of marketing? 9/10. Good solid game with less hype? 6/10. Everything else? 4/10 or 7/10, depending on the wind direction

Kane And Lynch... was that when a Gamespot editor got fired because he refused to give it 10/10 or something?

And I've heard good things about Space Marine, I've been waiting for it to drop in price before I get it though.

You're right, too many games these days the gameplay boils down to 'Press X, and keep pressing X until you win. Congratulations!'

Way too easy games these days. There's no tension or sense of reward anymore.

Yeah - basically a Kane and Lynch review popped up on the site, and it was like 5/10. Then it mysteriously disappeared, to be replaced with a 8 or 9/10. This was the same time the site was *covered* in adverts for the game. The dude who wrote it got fired, also
