She held a white lily in her hand the way she had the day Stephen was laid to rest.
This time it was Nick they'd lost. He hadn't been killed by prehistoric creatures or died a hero saving his friend's life.
Just a simple car, driven by a drunk, had ended Nick's life.
When she looked into Connor's eyes she realised she would lose him too. There was a limit to what any person could take.
Perhaps it would not be today, perhaps not even next year. But in the long run she would hold a lily for him too.
