Through the mist of her tears Helen looked at the falling man.
The bullet had hit him in the chest.
She told herself it was necessary for the greater good, but deep inside she knew the real reason. She'd wanted to kill him to end this sham of a marriage. Nick had refused a divorce and had fobbed her off when she'd tried to reason with him. He'd left her no choice with his righteous attitude that a marriage was for life.
Helen put her gun away and glanced a last time at her husband.
Now she was finally free.
