Summary: Claudia didn't vanish. She is always around in some way, in every altered universe.

AN: This story deals with alternate universes plus some sort of soul transmigration and might get a little bit confusing. So be warned.;)

The first time the universe changes, Claudia comes to awareness in a body with all the right curves. Her hair is more stylish and she wears a set of sexy clothes she would have been ashamed of in her precious existence.

Still it is the same familiar face in the mirror. But her new name, Jenny, sounds strange to her ears.

The next time, she wakes up in the body of a blonde girl with a foible for lizards and she learns more about the unhealthy relationship between Abby and Connor than she ever wanted to know.

Stephen's body has all the wrong planes and edges.

She manages to wet her shoes when she pisses, hurts her dick during zipping up and almost gets fucked by Ryan in the shower room.

The next day she isn't lucky enough to escape, and her arse is stuffed with a thick cock before she can utter a word. After that experience, she prays that she never wakes up in the body of a man again.

It takes her three weeks, and jumping into a few more new bodies, to understand that someone is tempering with timelines and so her soul keeps getting torn out of her body and placed in the wrong shells.

Several weeks later, after she has found out that an ordinary civil servant, named Oliver Leek, is, in reality, a really sick bastard, and after she has been spanked by Lester's wife, has had a blow job from Connor, fucked Stephen and made love with Cutter, Claudia realises she isn't the only soul in the wrong body but apparently she is the only one who remembers that it has happened.

The world seems to change every few days and, every time, she finds herself in another body. Sometimes it is strangers and sometime it's a familiar person. She prefers the strangers, through.

Claudia likes the attractive body of the posh soldier who was hired to protect the team. That is actually a body she doesn't want to leave, until a female archaeologist starts to flirt with her.
But curiosity wins out and she tumbles into bed with Sarah Paige on the second day. It is amazingly different to be with a woman. Claudia enjoys every slide of her cock into the hot wet tunnel of Sarah's pussy.

Only at the edge of orgasm does she sense it is actually Ryan, in a woman's body, she is fucking.

The moment she lands in Stephen's body the second time, (luckily, Ryan had died in that universe some months ago), and wakes up in bed with Helen and Cutter, Claudia decides that she has had enough. She has to find out who is responsible for all this chaos. Instead of avoiding her former colleagues, she begins to actively seek them out, even when she ends up in a body of a stranger.

Connor easily falls for the classy beauty Caroline, the body she is currently occupying, and it gives Claudia some small excitement to stir up trouble between Abby and Connor. Perhaps Abby will make up her mind now and stop playing with the confused young man.

When Stephen dies in this universe she strikes him, Helen and that creep Leek off from her list of troublemakers.

Eighteen more body jumps later, Claudia recognises a pattern. She knows almost all of her former colleagues from the inside and from the outside by now.

Nick Cutter seems to be the only constant in all the different universes. She has never woken up in Cutter's body and he is the only person who doesn't swap bodies himself. His soul is always right there where it belongs.

Claudia has lived in dozen of alternate universes and jumped into hundred of bodies before she accepts the truth.
The mysterious person who changes timelines as through the anomalies are his personal playing field is no one other than Nick Cutter himself.
Apparently, something bad has happened in the real timeline and Cutter wants to get back what he has lost.

Claudia doesn't know who Cutter is originally trying to bring back. Helen, Stephen, Connor, Abby, Ryan or Lester. It could be any one of them.

It never works, through. Someone always vanishes or dies at the end, as though fate does not allowing complete happiness. Still Cutter is trying anyway, altering the universe again and again.

Or perhaps Cutter just has forgotten what he originally wanted and is changing the future out of habit now.

'This has to stop.' Claudia thinks, determinedly. She is sick of waking up frightened and alone in a different body every time. She will no longer be the silent bystander whilst Cutter is playing God.

Her plan is well prepared. They only realise the ARC is under attack when it is already too late.

Cutter stares at the man in front of him with the same face, the same body. In reality the automaton is only wearing a projection device, which casts a four-dimensional picture of Cutter. It is amazing what helpful things you can get your hands on if you sleep with enough of the high-ranking military. But Cutter is fooled into believe he's seeing his clone.

She was intending to switch off the device the moment she had everything under control at the ARC, and reveal her robot helpers for what they really are: stupid machines, created in Silicon Valley to serve as cannon fodder in war.

But with a wiff of malice, she decides to play with Cutter. He has put her through enough horror to deserve a little torture.

She asks him about the artefact, wants to understand how he has managed to create the time device. Of course, he doesn't tell her. Perhaps he really doesn't know in this timeline. Claudia never has found out how much Cutter remembers from the old universes after a timeline change.
She guesses the memories come back to him relatively late or he would have handled several events differently.

She almost laughs out loud as Nick tries to speak with the machine. She wants to yell that it is only a piece of metal without any senses. Before she can do it, Lester and his team thwart her plans. Obviously it was a mistake to programme the robots with her voice.

Now there isn't enough time to get people outside before blowing up the ARC, which houses all the things Cutter needs for altering the universe, again.

She gives the order and the robot obeys but its slight hesitancy shows her it's malfunctioning again. Claudia starts to run away, with a curse on her lips, hoping that the robot will activate the bomb before its flawed programme crashes completely.

When Cutter helps her up from under the debris of the ARC she realises her hope has been in vain. Stupid cyberneticist, who still couldn't manage to create a working automaton.

But Claudia has a back up plan. She will not wake up in another body. Never again. She has to succeed and get her own universe back, where she is Claudia Brown, a competent junior civil servant with great hopes for the future and a crush on a stubborn blond professor.

With tears in her eyes, she pulls the trigger, knowing all he is seeing right now is Helen Cutter, his wife, with a gun in her hand, not knowing that the soul of Helen has landed in the body of a woman, named Christine Johnson this time.

She follows Cutter as he gets the artefact and hopes he will die quickly so that the horrific episode will end for good.

She can hear his last words "Tell Claudia Brown...."

With a sob, she stumbles away, finally understanding. It hasn't been about Helen, Stephen or Connor and Abby. Cutter has always only been trying to get her back, his Claudia Brown who had died in the original universe.

A few days later, nothing has changed. Claudia is still caught inside Helen's body and the only person who might have done anything about that situation is dead. There will never be another universe. She will have to live in the body of Helen Cutter, a woman everyone is hunting for, until her soul is freed by death.

Who would believe her if she told the truth? Certainly not Stephen, currently occupying the familiar body of her alter ego, Jenny Lewis, or Lester, revealing his childhood wish of playing James Bond in the body of a maniac cop named Danny Quinn.

The velociraptor's attack is unexpected. Lester, alias Danny Quinn, watches her fall with relief visible on his face. After everything she has done recently, she can't blame him for being glad that she is dying.
Her actions haven't seemed very sane after Cutter's death. In actual fact she has only tried to change the universe for a last time...

The ground is hard and pain is shooting through her body. Then everything goes dark.

Claudia wakes up in a room with yellow ducks on the walls. Everything around her is too large, and it smells of baby powder. The familiar face of Connor Temple, still looking a little bit innocent despite the fact that he has aged considerably, is now looming over her.

She starts to say that her real name is Claudia Brown and not Sweetie Pea. But the only sound that comes out of her mouth is that of a baby, wailing.
