Summary: Lester is in trouble when his mother wants to meet his new lover
AN: Just a little fic for Canadian Jay's big day. Happy Birthday!
Lester eyed the text message on his mobile with trepidation. He had been a fool to believe his mother would forget his rash promise. And an even bigger fool to mention his new relationship in the first place. A simple no to the question of whether he had met someone special again would have avoided any trouble.
Now she wanted to met his new significant other, not knowing what a can of worms she was opening with her request.
His mother had always been more open-minded than the rest of the family. She hadn't even batted an eye when she had received a photograph from an anonymous sender of her oldest son kissing a man, only four weeks after his divorce.
She'd only asked if the man had been the reason for his divorce. But that hadn't been the case. He and Karen had had marital difficulties years before he had even started working on the anomaly project.
In some way Lester was as old-fashioned as his deceased father. He had respected his marriage vows and had been faithful to his wife to the day he'd received the decree absolute. Only then had he approached Stephen. And nothing more than kissing had happened until after their third date
Lester knew his mother would understand why he'd fallen for Stephen.
One look at Cutter's lopsided grin and she would also understand why he hadn't be able to resist Cutter.
But what was almost certainly too hard to comprehend for a woman who had been together with only one man in her whole life was why he was in a relationship with both men at once.
How could he introduce his new lover to his mother if the one for Sunday to Tuesday was named Stephen, and the one for Thursday to Saturday went by the name of Nick.
A loud ping announced the arrival of another text. Lester blinked in surprise when he read his mother's new message:
"Please don't forget to remind your two boyfriends that formal attire is customary in Lester Hall."
So his mother's contacts in the Secret Service were still working well and she was a lot more open-minded than he had believed.
That only left the big problem of how to convince his lovers to meet his mother, and that they needed to be properly dressed in suits as well.
Perhaps it was time to resort to drastic measures and agree to Nick's and Stephen's desire for a double-pen. He wouldn't be able to sit properly for a week. But he was a good boy who’d do anything for his mother...
