Reason # 8,004,361,752 why living with your mother after college is like being raped in the eye with a pinecone:

Mom: (Sees that my sock drawer has been left ajar two inches and takes this as an invitation to open it up and peruse at will). "What's this here in the back? Are there shampoo bottles in your sock drawer?" (Pulls out a vibrator)--"Oh, ( Read more... )

That's why I made a deal with my kids... keep your doors closed and your stuff in your rooms, and I won't invade until you move out. Talk about TMI!!

You poor kid. I'm so sorry!!! I fear we may be facing something similar with the girl-child when she graduates next year. *sigh* Lousy economy = scary time for the parents of college grads. I remember when that wasn't EVER the case. Didn't even matter if you had a Fine Arts degree, you were more employable than anyone!

I am still crossing appendages that SOMETHING will come through for you. Are you still networking with your adviser? Is there any assistance available at all from the school??

Again, I'm so sorry you're going through this!!!!!!

That's just awful. :-( I'm so sorry. Do you think sitting her down and having a serious discussion with her might help? I know as a Mom I'd feel awful if I found out my attitude was destroying my daughter's sense of worth.

It's her home, but that is ~your room~ and if she is willing to let you live with her, then she has to be willing to let you have your space. It's only fair.

SERIOUSLY? Holy crap that's wrong on soooooo many friggin levels. Really not cool!

I'm so sorry, I can sympathize with the whole 'No job, no rights' thing. Really I can. I'm still working on not feeling like an entirely worthless piece of crap, but it's hard when you've worked so hard for something just for nothing to come of it. I have a friend who's graduating in May and I tell her all my sob stories on how I can't find work, but she still manages to tell me of ALL her golden opportunities waiting for her when she graduates. I'm happy for her, really I am, but she doesn't seem to see that hearing all that stuff is KILLING ME inside.

Anyways, I really hope things start picking up for you. You're incredibly gifted and smart and you deserve something AWESOME!
