This is why tallymatt is right that these tectonic shifts only happen after a span of many years.
And I think most of the Democrats know this. So, in spite of the fact that they were largely ushered in because folks thought they'd force us to "cut and run" in Iraq, they will not do it. There will be some slow, drawn-out withdrawal plan, absolutely guaranteed to last past November, 2008. Sure, they'll piss off a portion of their lunatic fringe base, but they won't really lose those votes in a Presidention election year.

I know things happen for a reason, but my heart hurts for what this country is becoming and what might become. Now what chance does Bush have of putting some good judges in the supreme court? Its back to activism, fetal sacrement, and taxes. I hope I feel better about this tomorrow.
