Just saw District 9. Holy fuck, it is amazing!
Summary: An extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth suddenly find a kindred spirit in a government agent that is exposed to their biotechnology.
Sharlto Copley plays Wikus Van de Merwe, a cheerful office worker charged with the task of moving the alien residents of District 9 (derisively called "prawn") into a new area further away Johannesburg. I have to say, for his first movie Copley is extremely convincing as Wikus, and it was refreshing to see his character's growth throughout the entire movie. Wikus isn't perfect but he's human, with dreams and ambitions that are fully fleshed out. And kudos to the Weta Workshop and all the companies involved in digitally rendering the aliens; they are without a doubt some of the most realistic aliens I have seen in years. And they are almost loveable in a way, if you can even believe that. The first 30 minutes eases you into the world of District 9; many people think that it is slow, but I found it nice to see and hear all of the little details of the aliens and their first contact. The action ramps up in the second half, but not too much as to sacrifice plot or consistency. And the ending still makes me tear up when I think about it. :(
In short? GO SEE IT. You will not regret it.
