Update on my paper

Nov 03, 2008 14:33

Got it back today, 97% A! The single issue my professor had with it? That I used contractions (we've, they're, etc.). Other then that, I did awesome.

*pats self on the back*

Sounds like to me a bit of personal prejudice on the professor's part. Contractions in the English language, are an accepted form of communication. Not sure what planet he's from, but apparently he doesn't understand Galactic Basic... ;p

Congrats on a job well done. *hugs* Keep up the good work! I'm rooting for you!

Actually, that is the norm for college; you don't want to use contractions in an essay because its considered "too casual." Academic writing is more specific that way.

*GASP!* You mean they actually expect proper English????? Will wonders never cease!

LOL!

Actually, I was unaware that using contractions in an essay, was considered 'too casual'. Thanks for the neads up. :D

I got an A on my English paper on Rachel Carson and her book "Silent Spring". I'll post it if anyone's interested. Contrats, Talon :) Stinks about the contractions, but yeah, that kind of stuff is considered bad in a paper of that type :(

It's understandable, but she didn't tell us that contractions were bad :s
