The dog looked at Eric and whined a little. Jumping down off the bed, he trotted over to Eric and sat down in front of him, shuffling his paws anxiously.
This wasn't supposed to happ-- oooh. Maybe the human would throw a stick for him...
Eric looked down. He sighed. "Well, I always wanted a pet dog," he said aloud, rolling his eyes. He didn't have a stick, but there was a tennis ball that happened to be sitting on his desk. He grabbed it and bounced it against the wall by the door.
This passed in a few days, didn't it? Wasn't that what people said?
That was the Myn-collie, taking off like a black and white streak after the ball. Of course, the room being smallish, he ended up skidding into the wall with a thud.
But he GOT. THE. BALL. YAY!
Almost prancing, he brought the ball back to Eric and dropped it, tail wagging.

He was sure that he'd seen Myn come in a moment ago, and, really, where would a dog come from? Neither of them had a pet.
There was only one logical explanation. "... Myn? Is that you?"
