My systems seem to be back to normal, now. Still not sure what happened. I would have guessed something like 'stomach flu' or... well, -anything-, but when you only have one single symptom it's just... confusing

Agnostics Unite! You know, if we feel like it.amandakittieJuly 20 2011, 22:22:22 UTC
Ah, I love being an Agnostic. Just being able to honestly say "I have no idea. Maybe there is, maybe there isn't. Either way, we don't get to know, so I'm not gonna worry about it." It's a huge sense of satisfaction. And I think it kind of encourages one to make the most out of life while being a good person, since this might be all there is (so don't take that for granted), but we might be held accountable in a hereafter (so don't take that for granted either). And I agree with you about Atheists, they're still claiming to know something that isn't knowable, and that's always rather bothered me as well. I think Atheism is more tempting to those who once called themselves Christian because of the connotations of Agnostics in the Christian belief system: i.e. they're still "convertible" whereas one who has utterly given up on a God possibility is not. Of course, the fact that this isn't actually a belief based in reality doesn't matter as much as the impression it gives, I think. But as a non-Christian raised individual, I am

^ What she said; yay Agnostics, and I like steering away from religious/anti-religious debates with the "I don't know, you don't know for sure, nobody knows on this Earth... so live your life well without stamping out other people's lives, and all is well!" >.> Or something like that.

I would +1 or Like this, but apparently this is neither Google+ or Facebook, respectively.
I tend hate gnostics when they get preachy, period. Athiests, Bible thumpers, Muslims: whatever. They're not all that way, but lots of them get all bent about it. Saying "You're wrong. Stupid mortal." and walking away tends to set them off even more. :D
Google+, Facebook, Ftah....talonrJuly 21 2011, 02:06:47 UTC
Yeah.. I tend to stay away from the advancement of just about -anything- these days. :X Using LJ may be the equivalent of living in a cave while everyone else is speeding around in personalized flying cars, but you know what? At least if anyone needs to get a hold of me, they know where my damn cave is. XD
Also, I delight in your usage of the term racism in your rant. It reminds me of a story.
"If I could be a bird, I would want to be a seagull, because seagulls just eat things and poop on things, and those are my two favorite things to do. That and the racism."
I'm sure I did, I was quite proud of it. It's my contribution to the world of deep thoughts. I came up with it in the car one day after talking about seagulls and their penchant for poop. And racism.
Heh, I like my version of belief best, of course. I'm non-denominational. Though I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a non-denominational Christian. My beliefs run more toward Eastern religious philosophy, such as the saying that there is only one God, but he shows different faces to different people, which is why there are different interpretations of him

My views are quite similar. And I find what you said amusing because I have a Christian friend who once asked me "Do you believe that it's possible that God just shows up differently to different people, and that's why there are so many versions? Because I just think that makes sense..."
Yeah, it's one of the bases of Hinduism. Basically, they believe that, even though they are a pantheistic religion, all of their gods and the rest of the gods other people believe in are Shiva. It's just that Shiva is like one of those multi-faced statues and different people see a different face, but they are all the same god. It's a bit more complicated than that though and, really, instead of Shiva, since Shiva is also a face, they just call the one god the Universal God. It has no real name.

Religion -is- a social system. That's totally the point in it. It might revolve around spirituality, but without social-ness, there is no religion. So yeah, everything that you just said. XD
Most of my friends *as proven by all of these comments* share the same opinions on this matter, which makes sense to me, since you guys probably wouldn't be my friends if we didn't think so similarly. XD
Similar to you, I really love getting into conversations or debates about religious things. It really is more of a wish to hear about how other people see things and how that works for them, and to offer back and forth ideas about new thoughts or outlooks or whatnot. Makes me really miss one of my friends back in OH and her Faith Club that I only got to go to once. :/
