Slight correction. The looting started Tuesday. As someone who was there till Wednesday in downtown New Orleans I would know for a fact. And the first thefts occured over food because FEMA wasn't feeding anyone. I've heard that the shootings and robberies in the Superdome began before the storm even started, but that would be hearsay on my part since I heard this from someone else.
Werd. Thanks for the correction. Wanting to get food because you are hungry is understandable. Walking away with as much Electronics as you can carry is not. Breaking into Wal-Mart to steal rifles and shotguns so you can hold up rescue workers should net you a bullet to the head. Agree?
Most of the people that stole guns weren't supposed to have them in the first place. Look at the guy the FEDs arrested in Algeries--already convicted and found with a firearm.
I have no problem with them shooting those that need to be shot, but considering that FEMA wasn't feeding anyone when they first arrived (and didn't even when they got more people there), I think they brought a lot of it on themselves.
We possibly could've gotten car jacked if it wasn't for the fact that my Dad had brough almost all his hand guns with him (including his shotgun).
I feel the need to respond to this OLD AS HELL post because I guess I didn't read your response or something back then.
THEY WERE WITHOUT FOOD FOR WHAT? 1 day? YOU MEAN THEY DIDNT HAVE CANNED FOODS? They didn't have access to canned goods? Listen - If my house washed away I'd be able to go down the road *to where it WASNT FLOODED* and get some food by buying it. They didn't have enough funds to eat for ONE WHOLE DAY by themselves??? Fuckin POS.
