I have my comfort reads, books I turn to when I'm down. Maybe some of Valerie's posts will give you that kind of comfort? Also, it might make you feel better to hug your kid and share some anecdotes with him about his aunt.
I was thinking about Val tonight. She is missed by all, even us Buffy peeps that never officially 'met' her. I thought about you too, how close you two were. I'm sending you happy thoughts and hugs, even though it sounds lame.

I bought the Epic Love Story of Doug and Stephen on October 31, 2012. I know the date because I just looked it up. It is honestly one of the funniest and loveliest books I've ever read. I don't say that lightly either because I read a book almost every single day. I loved it. I looked everywhere for another book by Valerie and couldn't find anything. Several months later, I searched again and found an obituary. I was struck numb and heartbroken. Someone I never met had passed away but I felt like a bright light had been extinguished from the universe. I can't even imagine how you must feel. I grieve with you for your loss. I just want you to know that a total stranger loved the gift that your sister gave the world and that I think about her every now and then and the joy she brought into my life and I imagine, a lot of other people's lives.
