This is fabulous! And now you've introduced me to the work of Eileen Farrell!

I know! Isn't she fabulous? I love her versatility. She was also a teacher and apparently an amazing human being with a wicked sense of humor.

You make me want to take singing lessons. :) Instead of just butchering music in my car. :)

Dooo eeeeet! But only if you find a teacher who makes you feel better about yourself after your lessons, not worse. :-)

I think sometimes that my brain never stops spinning. Especially when I'm feeling emotionally overwhelmed, I tend to retreat into analysis. So when I sound my most clinical, it's generally when my emotions are most deeply affected.

Also, music is IMPORTANT to me. I didn't realize just how important until I started singing again. Chris keeps remarking, "You sound happy!" And I AM. I mean, I wasn't miserable before, but my life is so much better with more music in it. It's kind of astonishing.

Thank you.

I've been thinking about you a lot recently. I'm in a position where not too long ago I introduced a "broadway baby" to Gilbert and Sullivan the way you introduced me, and she's enjoying herself, but still completely new to the canon. Perhaps now I have more appreciation for how much you've done for me...

Also, next season Lyric is doing "La Perichole" followed by "Mikado" which were (if you recall) my first and second shows with GSSSJ, back in the day, in those exact positions in the season, as well. (The first show is Ruddigore, not Patience, however, otherwise I'd feel really unsettled.) I still remember you and Sally as two of the three cousins, and how identical you managed to look. (Makeup is amazing.)

But so much has changed in (mumble mumble) years. You can never really go back. I'm wondering whether I want to audition for something next year, maybe, but I'm not sure I could bear to audition for La Perichole. It would have too much memory to live up to. I'd inevitably be disappointed in it.

I really dig this analysis! And the general "I feel better at the end than I did at the start" is such a good thing.
