FOUNDERSVERSE CAST LIST
(currently a work in progress; still being illustrated as well as written)
This list may contain spoilers for posted chapters of the fic.
Faculty and Staff:
Godric of Gryffindor
Professor of Transfiguration, and Muggleborn. Godric is twelve and a half feet tall, loves Transfiguration, and is terrified and anxious about practically everything else. For reasons as yet unknown, he was educated along with Helga and Rowena, although it doesn't seem to have done him much good, as Transfiguration is the only magic he is good at. He tends to blame his menacing appearance for his misfortunes, and just wants to be left alone with his books.
Lady Rowena Ravenclaw
Professor of Charms, as well as the sole heir to the Chief of the Wizards' Council, a semi-hereditary position. Rowena is a young widow with one daughter, Helena. Helga is her best friend, and has been since childhood. Her family, the Aeaeaes, claim descent from Odysseus and Circe, so she has an unusually thorough knowledge of the Greek classics. Rowena's temper is vicious, her opinions on the Iliad are extremely unorthodox, and her poetry is terrible.
Helga Hufflepuff
Professor of Herbology, and currently one of the best-respected defense herbologists in the field. She and Rowena grew up together and are still best friends, although to some extent Helga considers Rowena's well-being her responsibility. She and Rowena take turns teaching reading and writing. Helga is married to Basil Hufflepuff.
Basil Hufflepuff
Professor of Defensive Magic; formerly a duelist and a hunter of dark creatures. Since he was bitten by a werewolf on the job, he is no longer permitted to compete or to hunt. The fact that he doesn't seem to go around eating people left and right has caused many people to assume the werewolf thing is just a rumor. Basil is married to Helga.
Lord Salazar Slytherin
Professor of Potions and very influential member of the Wizards' Council. He owns the castle and the land the school is on. He is well-known to be vying to take the position of Chief of the Wizards' Council back from Rowena's mother. Salazar tends to watch and wait before he voices an opinion. This might be because he wants to fully understand the situation, but it's possible he just likes watching everyone else make fools of themselves.
Jasper Slytherin
Professor of Arithmancy, and Salazar's son and heir. Jasper designed and built the castle, and much of the spellwork to make the castle move was designed by him as a defense against potential invaders. He tends towards arrogance and obsession, and dislikes nonhumans.
"Peeves," a goblin
Formerly known as Urgak the Useless, Peeves is one of Lord Salazar's servants. He has little choice in the matter, as he has been enchanted with a spell that compels obedience through pain. Peeves keeps track of gossip and covert conversations within the castle. He also serves as a liaison to Lord Salazar's other enslaved goblins.
Students
Helena Ravenclaw
Helena Ravenclaw: Rowena's daughter. Helena is very spoiled when it comes to material things, but tends to be horrible at making friends, perhaps because she is not a very good friend herself. She's trying to change, but she's also her mother's daughter.
Julian de Malfoie
The second son of a Muggle lord, Julian was originally sent off to serve the Church, but he ran away and went to Hogwarts instead. His father eventually came around. He is a very devoted student and is extremely good at Charms.
Devlin
A slightly sarcastic Muggleborn boy from a large and totally unimportant family. His skills lie mainly in Transfiguration, and definitely not in reading. He's good friends with Julian and grudgingly tolerates Helena.
Ethelbert Filch
The son of a minor relative of the Glendower family, which is infamous for dabbling in necromancy. Casually racist and acts more important than he actually is.
Alice
A Muggleborn girl from the same village as Devlin. Likes Potions.
Gwen
Another Muggleborn girl from the same village as Devlin. Is good with Arithmancy.
Alioth Nigellus
A member of Hogwarts' second group of students, although he is several years older than most of the others. He is the oldest child of the heir to House Nigellus, one of the more powerful houses in the Wizards' Council. His best subject is Defensive Magic, and he has shown himself to be a very good duelist. He broods a lot. He is arrogant, and not well-liked.
