"Q&A" (a.k.a "Slumdog Millionaire") by Vikas Swarup - it was the basis for "Slumdog Millionaire," but the two only share character names and the barest of plot-lines. In my opinion the book was significantly better than the movie.

Anything and everything by Isabel Allende.

I do not promise that you will like these since I don't really know your reading tastes that well, but I think you may.
