ergh :/ so... surgery?

on the bright side, your bone marrow is TOTALLY UNREMARKABLE!

i laugh because i read it as "UNBELIEVABLE."

Yes and my cyst is multiseptated! It appears my options are either to give up all physical activity (except biking and swimming) or surgery. So it will be surgery, hopefully in about a month. It should be fairly routine, although it takes 6-12 months for full recovery. Ugh!

So... like relysh said... what does that mean?

did you have to go full depth into the MRI machine?

and yes, you have UNBELIEVABLE marrow (oooh ohh ohh oooh oooh, unbelievable!)

See above. And no, the MRI machine they use for limbs is not scary or claustrophobic at all. It was like this, and just your legs go under it.

That's rough. I'm sorry to hear that. Have you thought about what you'll be doing to fill in the empty spaces during your recovery period?

Not too much, but I'll probably spend more time trying to learn Japanese and finishing up my Master's. Plus hang out at the dojo one night a week or so - I'm helping with their web site and newsletter already.

Plus eating healthier! I will gain weight like you wouldn't believe if I cut out all my exercise.

Ugh! Knee surgeries are no fun. I should know...I've had two of them.

It sounds like the recovery from the surgeries are going to be much longer than the recoveries for mine though. So...they're not doing an orthoscopic surgery? What kind of surgery are they doing? Have you and your doctor talked about physical therapy? I had physical therapy after my second knee surgery because the scar tissue was gunking things up and making it hard to bend my knee.

I have not talked to the doctor at length yet, so I don't know the answer to most of those questions. I'll almost definitely be doing physical therapy and the 6-12 month figure is to get back to 100% with demanding stuff like martial arts. I should be able to walk carefully after a week or two, and normally after 6 weeks, with running at about 2-3 months.

Well, good luck. Sounds like it will also be a good time to travel. :)

Hope your run went well. anonymous October 7 2007, 17:08:01 UTC
Hope you're atleast somewhat hydrated and your knee is not aching. 80+ degrees is too hot for a marathon.
