Scanning photos on a Mac
Can any fellow Mac users recommend a scanner and/or software that's good for scanning pictures? I have hundreds of old photos I'd like to get online in as painless a way as possible, so user interface is key.

Yay
The half marathon is done. Official time is 2:18:38, counting everything but a bathroom break. That's 10:33 per mile. My cousin, who paused for the water stops, said we were actually running about 9:50 per mile. Not bad! -

Japan!
I've been back from Japan over a month now. I managed to get my pictures up right away and many of you have seen them, but I was waiting to post a link here until I finished my write-up.
I wrote most of it there, but procrastination set in for the editing and linking. It's still rambles a lot more than I'd like, but it'll have to do.

Book Banning
Ah yet another story on book banning.
The woman wants to ban 80 books from high school libaries. I'm only pointing it out because of the 5th paragraph, where she admits she hasn't read a single one of them - an all-too-common theme in the book banning crowd! -

Why is it that Apple needs to bring down their site for an hour every time they update the processor speed of a laptop or launch a new product? Every other online store, most with many more products for sale, is fully capable of making changes without downtime.
I think they just do it for dramatic effect. -

18 weeks
My marathon training program officially started yesterday, which means 18 weeks from Sunday, I'll be attempting to run 26 miles, 385 yards. This week, though, only 15 miles.
