The part about losing a fandom friend hit hard. I just found out recently several of my fandom friends I used to talk to have passed away as well.

Despite the bad news, I'm glad you're doing well. Congrats to your children!

It's good to hear from you, and I'm glad you're still around.

There have been others over the years, too. A couple of years ago I lost another fandom friend, too. She died less than a month after my first book was published. She was a huge fan of mine, and she'd read the rough draft and loved it, but...it was a brain tumor, so she never got a chance to read the finished book. That was the hardest.

Time passes, and anything can happen. It's weird, but they just don't have "fandom reunions" the way they have school reunions. Would be kinda cool, though.

I'm sorry about your friend.

Fandom reunions would be nice. The only thing that's close to that is when you meet them unexpectedly in new fandoms, still using their old fandom names.
