There have been others over the years, too. A couple of years ago I lost another fandom friend, too. She died less than a month after my first book was published. She was a huge fan of mine, and she'd read the rough draft and loved it, but...it was a brain tumor, so she never got a chance to read the finished book. That was the hardest.
Time passes, and anything can happen. It's weird, but they just don't have "fandom reunions" the way they have school reunions. Would be kinda cool, though.
Fandom reunions would be nice. The only thing that's close to that is when you meet them unexpectedly in new fandoms, still using their old fandom names.

I'm sorry about your friend.
