Writing Retreat of Awesome!

Over the Fourth of July holiday, I was lucky enough to attend the Second Annual Helderberg Writing Retreat. It is a glorious good time that my editor is kind enough to throw at her place in the Hudson Valley. It is secluded, isolated and yet filled with inspiration from not only the environment, but also the company of fellow writers

That is the best fucking costume. I thought at first you were going to go as Lady Gaga until I clicked the link. So awesome! A party where people dress and act as literary characters sounds amazing!

Thanks! I am sooo not a cosplayer, but I started looking for villains that matched my age and physicality and was torn between Umbridge (too much pink) and Nurse Ratchet from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (couldn't find an old school nurses outfit)... then I remembered Kathy Bates and was super excited! Creepy Fangirls FTW!

It was! But you know what would have made it even better? If you'd have come! You should totally come with me next year! *nods*

Creepiest, yes? It was sort of fun walking around with a sledgehammer in one hand and my cocktail in the other. WATCH OUT!
