Whatever happened to the oh-so-Christian ideal of, "Treat your neighbour as you would be treated yourself"? Oh, that's right. It doesn't apply to morally degenerate people like us.
I actually had someone tell me once that "neighbour" was a mistranslation and actually was meant to apply only to other Christians.
I also had someone tell me that the Scripture that says something like "God doesn't give or do to us anything we can't handle" also only applied to Christians. Very convenient, that. So my friend Scott, who threw himself under an 18-wheeler in 1994, wasn't a true Christian, otherwise God wouldn't have let his life be so miserable.
That ain't the half of it! I heard somewhere that "The 700 Club" got its name from the idea that there is only room for the 700 most righteous Christians...
No doubt, Pat Robertson thinks he'll be standing at Peter's elbow, helping him choose...
I dunno who told you that, but...whoa. That's not true at all. It IS a Christian ideal to treat everyone with love. And the part about how "God doesn't give us more than we can handle"...yes, that's in the Bible, but the verse continues to say that it's never more than we can handle with God's help. There's another verse that goes "Trust in the Lord with all your heart"...basically, that's what it means. I'm sorry you were misinformed, but I hope I've shed some light on it. There are self-righteous, arrogant people out there who call themselves Christian. It bugs me, because they are the worst possible representatives of who God is. Please don't go by their example. :)
Well, if I were the CEO, I would have handled it with a decision/announcement something like this:
"Religion today is a very contentious subject. And, in the interest of promoting a feeling of good will in these diffecult times, and as we are not a store that normally caters to a religiously-minded buying public, we will longer sell any items that may be construed as bearing religious significance (including, but not limited to): crosses, stars of David, Cresents of Islam or Pentagrams/Pagan symbols."
But I'm not the CEO, so...
[sarcasm]And Witthcraft and Wicca are clearly not real religions, anyway. Our president says they're not![/sarcasm]

How conveniently selective...

Jesus had good things to say, I may not agree with your bible, but your Christ was a wonderful person.
I have since met many Christians that lived exemplary lives, and followed the "golden rule" as it was meant.
