A little out of order

Dec 26, 2007 21:33

This afternoon I spent a few hours at a very cozy cafe in New Paltz, NY and got to catch up with my friend Christine (from Amsterdam) over skype. To be accurate, she's originally from Austria, but has been living in Amsterdam for many years. She was the one who had a mobile phone ready for me to use when I was in Amsterdam this past October, and ( Read more... )

I'm planning a trip to Paris, but it looks like I'll miss you...maybe we can meet up in Reykjavik for New Year's Eve 2008?

when are you thinking about being in Paris? I'm going to be flying into that city somewhere around April 15-20 and staying for at least a day or two.

Almost exactly a month before that. It's not for sure yet, but unfortunately, it won't be mid-April -- I'll be in Seattle then, giving a talk at the EMP Pop Conference.

Hi, I've missed some part of the story. (New to your journal.) What will you be doing in A'dam?

hi! I just added you as well - we have Megan as a common friend (littlemissmeg, or something like that, is her LJ name).

I'm moving to Amsterdam because I love it there and I miss Europe. I also want to make a documentary that requires me to spend a lot of time in the former Yugoslavia - and it's a lot easier to get there from western Europe than the US. As for my day-to-day life, that I'm not exactly sure about. Maybe I'll get a job in post-production (television, film, commercials, etc) or I might try to go to school at the Binger Filmlab (ever hear of it?). I am not an EU citizen so the whole work permit issue is, obviously, an issue.

you can keep up with me here if you'd like, that's where I write in more detail about my moving-to-amsterdam process. I just use this journal to be a bit more... journaly. :)

Have had a look, thanks. :)

Feel free to look me up when you arrive. We have a quite a former Philly expat crowd here, and many of them are more exciting than I am (boring old IT manager). I'd be curious to hear more about your documentary. I did my MFA in film at Temple and taught as an adjunct there and at University of the Arts (which has a different name now).

wow! I know a ton of people from Temple, both staff and students - I used to work for Film at the Prince (at the Prince Music Theater, Broad and Chestnut). We showed a ton of the students film, and they helped promote our program.

I love that's there's a Philly expat crowd. :) thanks for checking out my other blog, it's good to have been introduced!

keys and whiskey are all I really need in Philadelphia! Well, that and good company, of course. can we be macnerds on Friday and get all kinds of productive stuff done?

I'll ring you when I get to Philly tomorrow, hopefully by 7-ish.

How fucking exciting! We were about to plan a trip to Belgium/NL/Germany for April but then decided to hold off for a while in case I need to take care of my mom before/after/around then. But when we do zip over this year, I hope we can hang out. We always end up in Amsterdam.

Am I right in assuming Portland is out?

tamisevens December 27 2007, 06:57:36 UTC
not really! I have a meeting with the Portland woman at the end of Jan - a very casual sort of "let's just hang out for 15 minutes" type of thing. That could lead nowhere or somewhere great, but either way I get to hang out in Portland for a week. I'll be there Jan 30-Feb 3 (ish).
