I actually really enjoyed it. The only criticism I would have is that sometimes the music seemed a bit overpowering. During the scene with Fifteen playing I had a little trouble concentrating on Adine's words because the song was distracting... I'm not sure if that's because it was too loud or because of the music itself.

Aside from that tiny little thing, fantastic job!

thanks! that's a huge criticism of mine as well - I swear in the edit suite the music didn't seem that loud. when I watched in on a tv, I couldn't believe it... I did a really crappy job mixing in the music.

I also didn't know quite how to mix in the music until the last day I had to edit, which annoyed the shit out of me because I USED to be able to do that pretty well (I worked at a radio station for crying out loud). ah well, a lesson learned (and something I might be able to fix down the road). thanks so much for watching and your comments!

Tami, this is so cool! From a housekeeping standpoint, it plays great on a PC in Firefox, so good on ya.

But wow! This is cool to me for two reasons -- 1) it's great to finally see the sort of thing that you do (and are capable of doing) and want to do more, and 2) it's cool to learn more about Adine since I hear/read about her every now and again but now have so much more background.

The video was great. The only real criticism I have is with the music -- it actually took me a while to even notice it was there, and then when I *did* notice it, I found it really distracting (like, "is that music in the background? No? It's put there purposefully? Wait, IS IT IMPORTANT MUSIC?!? What are the lyrics?"). I don't watch enough documentary film to know what's typical or appropriate in this style of short film, but that's how it affected me.

But seriously. Awesome. I can't wait to see the video on your grandparents!

thanks Heather! music seems to be the #1 complaint, totally justifiably so - but fortunately something i can fix further down the road if I want. my other huge complaints is I really think it should be about three minutes shorter and the opening is just SO WEAK.

I think if you're paying enough attention to the music so that it distracts from the subject (ie: the person talking), that's a problem.

no idea when the grandparents video will ever be ready - I never got to do anything with the footage. hopefully when I get my own camera and editing system I'll be able to put something together.
