Summary; This makes the second victim Alfons has had to carry out of Cirucci's apartment. It's becoming a trend.
Log;
Alfons; Alfons had expected a little more resistance than that. Were cookies really all it took to sway Cirucci Thunderwitch, or did she just suddenly not care? She and the others had gotten into a fight over Orihime, yet they were letting Alfons walk right out with her without any argument.
It was strange, and more than a little unnerving.
As he carried the girl on his back, the young man leaned over a little more than absolutely necessary, cheeks flushed a bit. He wasn't used to being in such close proximity with women. It wasn't like he ever got this close to Cirucci, other than the occasional passing hug. Carrying one around on his back was completely alien, and she was...rather well endowed. Awkward was not the word.
But she still appeared much too shaken to walk on her own, and this was easier on him than carrying her bridal style. With a sigh, he paused to get a better grip under her knees before glancing back at her.
"Miss, where do you want me to take you? Are you hungry? Or do you want to go home?"
Orihime; Orihime leaned against the boy's back. It was strange---from the hands of the 'Akatsuki' to the Arrancar, and now to this boy. He was able to take her from the Arrancar easily, like they didn't seem to care at all that she was gone. Even though all that fighting and bloodshed had happened due to their holding of her. Was it all for nothing?
The boy's question filtered through her thoughts, finally reaching the front of the amalgam that was her mind at the moment, and garnering her attention.
"...I'd like to go home..."
Alfons; With a nod, Alfons glanced around, as if expecting stares. No matter how long he spent in this crazy place, habits from home still stuck with him. Of course, nobody in this hell hole would stare at something like this. This was nothing.
"Ah... Of course. And where is that?" He tried to keep his voice light and gentle, though concern was etched into his features as he spoke. It was hard not to sympathize with her... People had fought over her, not to mention she'd had to deal with Cirucci and Luppi doing God-knos-what. The memory alone made him wrinkle his nose.
He was curious as to why she was so important, but it wasn't his place to burden her with those types of questions right now.
Orihime; She wondered who this boy was, who had saved her from all the trauma she'd been going through over the course of the last week. She wanted to thank him, to hug him, and tell her how much she appreciated him taking her away from it all, but she could not find the words to say so. She could only answer in the barest of tones, no matter what her heart had wanted to do. Her mind was just too tired, too overwhelmed.
"Building 11, apartment 116..." She managed to give him.
Alfons; He was quick to turn the corner and began heading towards the indicated building. That wasn't far at all, which was nice, because he didn't want to deal with the subway at night. The Underground was creepy enough at normal hours.
At first he debated if trying to talk to her was good or bad. Maybe she preferred time to herself, but he still felt horrible for what she had been through. It was like he was feeling the guilt that Cirucci ought to.
"...Whatever you've gone through," he started carefully and quietly, keeping his gaze set ahead. "None of it was your fault. The arrancar are always looking for fights and I suppose you just got caught in the middle. Nobody died, though, and that's a good thing isn't it? You can put it behind you and just stick close to those shinigami, if they're your friends. Don't let any 'soul owning' sway your decision. I think that's just a bunch of gibberish, like arrancar not having a heart."
Orihime; Inoue's eyes widened slightly at his words. She barely knew this person beyond what had happened in the last few hours, and he was already reassuring her pain-ridden heart and soul with kind encouragement. She allowed her arms to tighten a little around his neck and shoulders, in the only way of affection she could show. Right now, what he was saying meant all the world to her. She had been waiting for just a gentle word, something warm and compassionate. Something to take her away from the grisly shade of red the last few days had been coated in.
"...Thank you." She whispered, wondering if he could hear her.
Alfons; He heard her, though just barely. If she hadn't been so close, he might have missed it, but the hug was enough to get her message across anyhow. It embarrassed him, really, but he was happy to think maybe his words had gotten through to her. ...Maybe.
By the time Alfons reached the correct building, he was exhausted. He might not have been sick anymore, but that didn't mean he was in the perfect shape. Too much reading and not enough exercise, apparently. Grateful that he hadn't collapsed or anything, because his pride just couldn't handle it, he stopped outside the building to kneel down so that she could slide off. "Are you going to be alright from here? I can walk you to your door."
Orihime; Orihime slipped her feet to the ground, walking a bit away from the boy beside her before turning around. She allowed a warm smile, something that she hadn't been able to muster in the past days well, and bowed lightly to him.
"Thank you so much for this. I...am very grateful. I don't even know your name..." Her eyes searched his face, noting the congenial cast that it bore, both in expression and gaze. She had found another friend in this vast city, and this was something else that she was counting her blessings for. Something good had come out of all of this after all.
Alfons; The bowing was a surprise, and he didn't really know how to respond other than to rub at the nape of his neck nervously and try to bow back. When she asked about his name, he flushed again and straightened up. "It's Alfons! Alfons Heiderich. How rude of me not to mention earlier... And you're Miss Inoue, right? Cirucci mentioned you before..."
Of course, poor Orihime had seemed too out of it then. Recalling how traumatized she looked, he could notice a slight difference in her facial expressions now, but he didn't doubt the burden was still great. With a sigh and a gentle smile, he reached out to take one of her hands in his. Her skin contrasted with his in how warm it was, and that was something of a comfort, the touch alone relaxed him. At least she was still alive. She still had hope.
"Please stay safe. It seems like you're popular in a most unflattering way. I suggest you stay close to your friends that can fight. I don't know how many more times Cirucci is going to let me rescue people from her apartment." He was trying to joke, however poorly, to lighten the mood.
Orihime; Orihime giggled a little, a noise which somewhat surprised her. She was feeling somewhat better, and it was a good feeling, but one she had not expected so soon. So, his name was Alfons. It was an unusual name, but a very elegant one nonetheless, and she thought idly that it would be very fun to roll off the tongue.
"Cirucci-san is like that. She always has been, ever since I met her." She looked thoughtful for a moment, remembering a bit about the Thunderwitch. Her attention turned back to Alfons, as she continued to speak, her voice a bit softer this time. "But I will try to stay safe. And my name is Inoue, you are right. Inoue Orihime. Thank you again." She turned to open the door to the apartment building, but stopped as her hand touched the handle.
"Would you like to come in for a while?"
Alfons; He thought her personality a little odd... Orihime didn't have anything bad to say about Cirucci, after being held hostage? He was so usually prepared to defend her that he didn't expect otherwise.
Confused, but pleased nonetheless, he didn't think twice about accepting her offer. Edward probably wouldn't even notice him being out late if he was with his brother, and after her experience, he didn't want to leave her alone. Assuming she lived alone.
"If you don't mind. Thank you." Quickly stepping over, he reached out to pull the door open for her before she could. "I'm sure you need your rest, though, so I won't stay long. Maybe just long enough to cook you a little something. I doubt they fed you."
Orihime; "I would enjoy that, and you are very kind to offer. You are right, I've not eaten really anything in these last days." Opening the door, she began to walk up the flight of stairs to the first floor. It had been true, while with her sets of captors, she hadn't really eaten anything, save a cookie while with Cirucci. It wasn't much, but it had kept her going.
It would be good to have actual food again.
Coming upon her door, she knelt, taking a key from under the mat, and unlocking it. "Here we are." She wandered into the apartment, as he followed her. It wasn't a very grand apartment--just the basic things that most people have. A yellowish couch sat in the middle of the front room, with a TV on a small stand in front of it. The girl walked over to said couch, sitting down on it gently. It was nice to be home.
Alfons; Quietly stepping into the apartment, Alfons took a quick glance around. Simple, but it didn't really seem neglected, other than perhaps a tiny bit of dust. He wondered how long she had been kidnapped... A few days? More? He could still remember when he had been kidnapped in the City by those grotesque nurses and all those creatures. Cages, and then that fire, and being called something like the withered lover...
The memory alone made him shudder a bit as he shut the door. He wouldn't be staying long... She looked worn out. More than anything, she probably just needed a quick dinner and then some sleep.
