Heat, humidity and homesickness... and having fun

Well, here I am in Bangkok. It is really hot here, and humid. I still miss home, and... people... But I am settling in quite nicely. Tomorrow we go to Ayutthaya, which is the old capital of Thailand. Then on Monday we go to Angkor Wat in Cambodia for 4 days... And then on Friday through Sunday we are going to a beach or an island a couple hours

Dharma Precept, eh? That IS nifty...good to hear that you're enjoying yourself, as usual I am green with envy! I am sorry to hear about the homesickness - the only advice I can offer is to keep your mind focused and not let your thoughts stray too much. That's how I got through 5 weeks myself...but then again, I was happy to leave...There's so much STUFF to be seen and done that you'll soon be too busy to think about home, etc (except when you get home in the evening or something), so just keep at it, immerse yourself in it, and it'll go much easier. That's my shred of advice...in any case, have LOTS OF FUN, and drink lots of nifty Thai drinks!

I agree with your advice :) I have been doing that and now I am pretty much settled in & enjoying life. It already feels strange that I will be going back to the US, in a way... :) :) Haha, but, I won't be having any Thai drinks (I am assuming you mean alcoholic ones)... my dad doesn't drink & I'm too young (the age is 20 and they really check!). Maybe we should come here in a few years and have some "nifty Thai drinks" together.

Hi!! I love you lots too. And I miss you. And my goodness--five weeks is one thing, but having to wait 6 months to see you after Dec., if that, is something else... BUT we will have to see each other LOTS when I get back!! Don't you DARE be busy!!!

Thailand must be fantastic, if far away...but you'll be back in the not too distant future with fantastic memories and experiences...wow..how hot is it? I've always wanted to go to Cambodia.waa.jealous :) sounds like you're going to be seeing a lot of pretty much unforgettable things, so enjoy...everyone back home is just wanting you to have a good time, I'm sure..

Thanks. Yes, Cambodia (Angkor) was amazing. Hopefully you will go one day! In answer to "how hot is it", the temperature is usually between 29 & 35 degrees Celcius. And it's humid. But there is usually a nice breeze, and I'm getting used to the temp. In Cambodia yesterday it must have been about 40 C, and I got really burned there! :) Now I'm nice & tanned. Hehe.
