Tiny story fragment...

She skipped her way through a light spell. As she finished the last sweeping gesture, the tracery of her footprints began to glow.

That feels like it has the potential to become *something*...

For now, it's becoming the start to a pass-on story, if anyone's interested.

edit: datebump so it's on the first page

Callum watched, mesmerised. Any moment now his partner would jump out, but for now, the air was quiet, and the fairy Jasmine was happy. If only this moment could go on forever, he thought. Just once, let's leave her be. But he couldn't tell this to his partner - could not use telepathy.

Jasmine turned suddenly, and the light faded somewhat. Had she seen him? No, it was just a dragonfly. She reached out to it, and it fluttered around her face for a while.

What are you waiting for Daren? he thought. And still his partner did not appear. Perhaps nothing is going to happen after all...?

Then, Jasmine turned to stare directly at Callum's face. She had a smile that he did not like at all. He realized, then, that the spell she had danced was not, in fact, a simple light spell.

Daran...? Callum couldn't break the stare. He listened, unbreathing, to the sounds of the forest. Slowly, Jasmine lowered her arms and took a step towards him. She blinked.
Callum drew back suddenly, only to stumble over a fallen branch. The fall was so sudden he thought she'd caused it. "Daran!" he gasped. Leaves rustled in the distance, and he heard a twig snap. He felt sick.

Jasmine's high, lilting laugh rang out. "Oh, don't worry. Once we're done with you, we'll let you go. Just like you always do with us."

Callum scuttled backwards, as fast as he could.
