My aunt and uncle, who are screenplay writers, had a meeting with Judy Blume once, but I forget what project they were being considered for (if it was anything specific). Whatever it was, they didn't get the job, unfortunately.

Apart from Blume and endless science fiction pulp I think the big YA author of my teens was Daniel Pinkwater, but I'm not sure if 'Alan Mendelsohn, Boy From Mars' could be turned into a successful movie. (Though I'd kind of like to see someone give it a try.)
