I have to admit to being a complete techno-clutz, if it's possible for me to mae a balls of it. That said, it took me about a minute to migrate my lj entries, comments an all, across to DW. In fairness, my journal's fairly small, but it was easy to do! I'd second xennie_b's point about losing your fics, they're fantastic.
Decisions suck, especially when you get pushed into them because of lj acting like prats.
It's the assumption that we'd be thrilled to be facebooked that annoys me, I think. I've managed to avoid it this far! I'd imagine that the DW people are finding the silver lining in this fiasco.
Just remember, those codes only fix the problem for the comments. There is also the "Share This" feature on every public post where anyone reading the entry can choose to repost it to the following sites: Facebook, Twitter, Google Buzz, Blogger, MySpace, Digg, AIM Share, Stumbleupon, Messenger, Bebo, Blinklist, Blogmarks, Blogger, Add to BX, Buzz Up!, Care2, CurrentDeal, spl.us, Delicious, Diigo, Fark, Faves...and many more.
This fix only hides the boxes - it doesn't actually stop the process. It could actually be more of a problem. If someone hasn't automatically set up their account to crosspost, they have to click those boxes manually to do it. So it does stop them from easily (maliciously) sharing your flocked info by hiding the boxes and making them go into their own journal set up to change their settings.
But if someone has set up their account to automatically crosspost, but unticks the boxes for flocked entries (because they're not arseholes), not having the boxes there as a visual reminder to untick means they could forget and accidentally crosspost.
This whole idea is problematic and needs rethinking. In the meantime, I'm creating a cosy little home at DW. :)
LJ did a massive fail, that's for sure. However, since I see that you've already found the way to fix the ability to crosspost the comments that people leave on your LJ, as long as you don't yourself set your entries to crosspost, it's a non-issue. Happily. :)
Don't want to lose your fics. I have some saved but not all. DW is a good tool and like you have been told above it's easy to transfer your stuff over.
I have freinded you on LJ and I use my LJ name as my open ID on DW.
I migrated in less than an hour and was even able to transfer my template with the help of . My big problem is with the "share this" button, which has no override. I do not need to find my fannish life spread all over Facebook -- because I do know that where I work, several people monitor it for info about students -- my name popping up *shudders*

Copy this just as it is:
.b-repost-item, FORM#qrform > TABLE[style="border: 1px solid black;"]:last-child TD[style="vertical-align: top; text-align: right;"]:first-child { display: none !important; }
and paste it in the big box here. Save it, and checkboxes are gone.
I just had my husband test it by going over to make a comment on my LJ - NO CHECKBOXES IN SIGHT!
