Something you can do right now to help the Gulf clean-up!

Do you have access to old nylon stockings?  Pet or human hair clippings?  Waste wool?  These humble materials are being made into oil-absorbing mats and booms to soak up the oil now washing up on our beaches.   If  there is a pet grooming parlor or beauty salon in your area, please read and consider printing out this material, or at least the link ( Read more... )

Thanks for being active! I have no illusions that all our collected debris will soak up all the oil, but if a few key beaches and barrier islands can be spared, then at least there will be sites from which nature can stage a recovery.

Real estate follies (good name) are on hold, at least for now. I am once again considering moving out of state, with the realization that this would mean getting rid of 80% of everything I own. My boyfriend is taking a lucrative job in San Diego, but I have no plans to follow him anytime soon, as my Dad is in assisted living here and my Daughter really wants to stay here for her last year of high school. The pieces will all eventually fall into place, just not for a while.
