It seems that theenforcer 's been being inventive with the truth again lately. Just to set the record straight, here's how our Christmas conversation really went:

"Listen son", I said, "it's about time you bought yourself a house".

If we had been having that conversation a year ago, and I'd acted on it, I'd be underwater on my mortgage and otherwise out 30-40% on my money. Historically, the price of houses makes it a pretty okay investment. Recently, it turns out U.S. houses have been overpriced for the last several years. Are they now correctly valued? I don't know. Do you? Once the market settles out, I will re-consider the investment argument.

But it still won't change the fact that I don't want or need a house.

Also, I bought a blu-ray player on your advice, and Inglorious Basterds kicks major ass in high definition. Good call on that one.
