Things are going well, i suppose. The job is kind of daunting, in that a somewhat large contiguous mass of information is being relayed to me in a barrage-like way. The pay is good though, and It's not exactly hard, and everytime i hear about what the job is like (vs. training), its all aces. I'm starting to wonder if i need to take the second job ( Read more... )

While the idea of 1.5 time is wonderful, I'm not so sure how realistic it is. Most places have quite strict rules in place to make sure that you can't pick up enough hours to make it, even if you want to. I know that they wouldn't let us in my dept at Nordia, so I'm going to guess it may be the same for yours. On the other hand, one job = fewer scheduling woes. :)

I'm not sure what their policy is but it seems like they always need extra people in BEV, and with the holidays coming up it should be ample time for it i would think, the emails read basically "anyone who wants extra hours after 1600 talk to your TM on your break". im sooo looking forward to my training and attendance incentives coming in... s'gonna be sweeeeeet. the pay, plus whatever extra hours, in addition to any incentives that i may get (attendance is pretty much a gimme) it should end up being more convenient and more profitable than a second job.

You get attendence incentives?!?!? WTF? Isn't the fact that showing up is part of your job enough of an incentive? I mean, granted, I rarely wanted to go to work, but I did go. While I'm jealous of the idea, I'd also be a bit wary of a job that's so bad that they have to offer such a thing. Hope I'm wrong.

i see your point, but the call centre i used to work at actually had a monthly performance based incentive and they gave away prizes all the time to keep morale up. The attendance bonus sounds amazingly sweet. I get $200 at end of training, if you have perfect attendance between dec 6 and 13 you get $50, the week after that $50, plus another $100 at the end of the month if you keep it up, and its cumulative, so if you have had perfect attendance for three months, you have a $400 bonus already, plus this two hundred, you get $600 total... and then $500 next month if you still have perfect attendance. It seems somewhat unattainable, but if i end up with good attendance for two months or so it should be very lucrative on top of my hourly, which is 11.50. I think the whole incentive thing is part and parcel with call centre work, people don't think too highly of it so they have to make it look good to everyone else and their dogs.
