OK guys, things are unraveling. I need some advice. Tell me what I should do with my life (for the next three years, at least). Right now, I'm on my way to a physics degree. I've got a year and a half racked up in this direction. The question is - does physics really make me happy? I can't even figure this one out myself. I'm not sure ( Read more... )

noooodle. how dare you ask such a question? your art is your heart, pulsing with fat veins. beatbeat, heart. i don't know if i'm at all the person to answer this, seeing as how i've completely dropped all logic from my life and made words my "career" of sorts.

i will say this, however: always, always, always be true to yourself, for if you deny your body's natural direction, nobody you meet will be real. nothing you see will be real. routine's safety, but hannah. HANNAH. safety only works on paper. sometimes the messsssss is the most beautiful.

paint!! paint so we can all look at your work and brag about the artist we know. paint so you won't have to wonder at all. jesus. this makes me so happy. do it!!! for me, noodle. do it.

i read a book recently which i wont name but is part of most university and college sociology curriculum, its written by a woman who has published 12 books and is featured in many periodicals, she is a doctor in biology, and she writes about the struggles of the lower classes in the american capitalist structure,
with your mind hannah you can do anything, physics, art, mortuary science, whatever im sure you could do whatever you want, but i suggest you do what makes you happy,

as a guy studying english, relentlessly pursuing some sort of career in something I love to do and talk about, let me say that there is a certain pain in turning your art into work, however I find that I still enjoy what I do, hell still love what I do. The art world is a scary place but I believe anyone with enough natural talent (and you certainly have enough) can succeed if they truly devote themselves to their art. Other people will make you feel small with their talent all the time, but that is the beginning and you can't let the fear of others slow you down. As a person who also loves math, I've recently chosen to bump down to a minor just because it only goes so far to me. I don't think there's any shame in letting go of a field that just doesn't do it for you. Your first responsibility is yourself. But that's just my two cents. It's a personal decision and there are no rights and no wrongs because good and bad will come of both. The scales will tip one way or another and you'll decide something and that will be the way ( ... )

hannah, obviously your life is your life and you should make your own decisions, but i will say this, if i had your artistic abilities i would be studying art somewhere. you are brilliant and i think you can do whatever you want though.
