Oh hey, that is pretty confusing. It's gonna be my birthday in a couple of weeks, technically, so I guess I should probably figure that out, too.

[He thinks it over. And over. ...Aaaaaand over.]

Blergh. I'm kinda getting a headache, too...

Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to confuse you or give you a headache...

Huh? Oh! Nah, it's fine. Hopefully someone will know how this works, though.

So, when's your birthday? Mine's the 16th.

[Rory, speaking as someone who lives in a time machine.] You're best off just celebrating it on the date. You might be slightly older, or younger, but it's not worth the confusion.

That's a very smart way of thinking of it, thank you!

I'd say, go for the party in general, and if it really bothers you, say you're 18 and a half.

That's a really good idea, thank you! I think I will do that!

That is confusing. But it would be fun to celebrate something.

I think so. You know, this is only my second birthday away from Mother too...or maybe it's my first. The time thing again is confusing me. But either way, since she's not here, I could maybe have a birthday party with actual people! It's only ever been her and me, so maybe it'd be fun to do something with more than 2 people.

You should. It would be a lot of fun...

Wait, you didn't have a birthday party with people? Didn't your friends come over?

Nope, never. Well, Pascal would be there, but he's always there with me, so I don't know if it counts...

He was my only friend until I left the tower, though, so I guess he does count.

Celebrate it this month, then celebrate it again on the day you got here. That way you get two birthdays and you won't be lying about either of them.

How do you count age doing that, though?

Does it matter?

I don't know...I guess it matters if you want to know how old you are.
