Three millennia later, I watched the Who I've missed (which means: the last few Tennant specials, the end of Ten, ALL OF MATT SMITH).

Can we talk about this?

I am SO PLEASED with this season (series, whatever). This is the first season I haven't just had Who on in the background since the first season (of New Who, that is). Matt Smith is DEVASTATINGLY excellent as the Doctor, Steven Moffat is doing all the right things in all the best ways. Not since the Rose-Jack-Doctor eps of late s1 have I felt the swashbuckling high space adventures element of it so strongly. I love everything about the reboot, even the things I thought I would dislike. I'm SO SO GLAD that the season finale wasn't as overwrought as Rusty's shit usually is; I mean, sure it had overwrought aspects of it, and still abounded with logic holes, but not in the usual way of the Rusty ( ... )

I have a fondness for Ten that's mostly just a fondness for Tennant and his unbridled devotion to Who. I did tire quickly of Ten, but I suspect that's more due to RTD's shoddy writing. I think when he was given good material, he shone, but it was so infrequent (especially as of late) that I associate him with alien cat-nuns and other such awfulness.

My favourite is Nine, but Eleven is creeping up on him. FEZZES ARE COOL

I'm worried that they won't be able to get around the regenerating thirteen without it seeming awfully contrived. I think it's kind of cute that the creators probably never thought they'd get around to number thirteen, let alone create the pop culture cornerstone that it ended up being. Depending on who is in charge, though, I do wonder if they'll just cut it at thirteen. Moffat, I think, would champion for the end of the Doctor to be the end of the Doctor, but maybe that's just my opinion of his writing sensibilities.
