brainless? time to buy a new toy?

I just realized that I must have lost my surrogate brain, my PDA. Maybe I just misplaced it somewhere (in the car? at home? at a friend's place?). By now, the battery will be too drained to locate it using my mobile phone [trying to pair it using Blootooth™ to know at least if it's near].

I am using computers for 20 years now, and I had all kinds of computers and operating systems but I never really touched Mac before. But their new operating system (Mac OS X) is really very well done. The new OS and the iPod [it only works really well under Mac OSX] made me switch to Apple.

And in my opinion, the new Powerbooks are just the best notebooks ever. I always liked Apple for their design but did not like their software and proprietary hardware, but with their new computers are really perfect! I currently have the 12" Powerbook and it's great, but the 17" model is really a masterpiece of product design.

Zoë, why can't you just hike and climb a mountain without carrying IT equipment with you? :-)

No, I understand you very well. Over the past 15 years, i was never offline or without cell phone for more than two days except when i was on a hiking trip in Patagonia for 6 weeks. But still, I had my Psion Series 5 with me.

No, seriously, there is something for you: as far as I know you, you are writing very much and fast, and you are always on the road/hike... on the other hand you are a programmer and IT geek and not technophobic. two years ago, the ideal choice would have been the Psion netbook/Series 7. netbook was the german version of the Series 7 with more RAM. Unfortunately, Psion are not developing and continuing those great PDAs any longer. I still have a netbook. It has a full size keyboard, but the whole computer is still A5 size. As it has no mechanical parts, no hard disk, battery lasts for 9 hours. The EPOC operating system is very cool and the whole thing is very strong for Java applications, they run faster than on some ( ... )

You confirmed to me what I had known all along. It's just better to hear it from someone who knows his gadgets. Unfortunately, I've searched a few months ago for a keyboard here in Geneva and it seems the store clerks do not have any idea what I am searching for. tsk-

Thanks thanks and thanks!

hmmm, you can have a closer look at it here or there (very huge pictures). you can have a closer look at it. Those keyboards are really nice but there are 'soft' ones available too, but they suck and are not usable to type. Those original foldable Palm keyboards are very well done and for you, it would not be any problem to type as fast as on a ordinary PC one. For me it's different: the keyboard layout is US. I'm used to Swiss Layout with ä, ö, ü, é, è and à etc. Of course I can change the layout by Palm Settings/Software. But the keys are labelled different.

no, D&G is my favorite because of their excellent panini (especially the sundried tomato-mozarella-olive one), the arabic music, the hectic athmosphere and because it's next to your place!

haha... no, Orange in Switzerland really sucks. their coverage and service is bad.

Believe it or not, but there are more fruits etc. in IT: A long time ago, there was a computer maker 'Apricot, I once had a Tulip computer, there are Pear PCs, Guava Software and Tomato and Lemon computers...
